Fruit of the Bloom, Texas Flora Series
The prickly pare is a local cacti that blooms beautiful lemon yellow flowers in spring and then produces a purplish fruit that is used in many culinary delights. I love the flattened and foreshortened disk forms of the pads, the spikes, flowers, and the many shadow patterns that result. This is my second in this series, and now that the blooms are out I am busy sketching, creating photo references and painting with Atelier Interactives.
