This painting was done at a workshop I attended at my painting group, Gawler Art Society. The painting is from a photograph that Gerhard Ritter took of his grandson. Gerhard kindly gave me permission to use the painting for display purposes.
I was very pleased with the finished result as I chose to paint him in my own impressionist style. His shirt appeared with only a few overstrokes of a large brush over the laid in colour - I was delighted with the result
I have taken some artistic licence & left the painting at a stage that was pleasing to me even though I left the little boy looking younger & slightly more full in the face than what the original photo was.
I love to paint with Gerhard when he comes to Gawler, he is a lovely man who loves to teach as well as to paint & is a well known artist who lives here in Sth Australia
