Fantazy Flowers
This Floral study is painted in Chromacryl Student Acrylics. I wanted a contemporary but soft look in a complementary colour scheme. I deliberately chose to paint using a limited palette. It needs a little more work, especially the top right corner where the petals need to be glazed and toned to fade more into the background. I think if I painted a similar piece I would put more movement into the background perhaps. I will work on it and pop the comparisons up

Lillies ooooh la la
Painted with a painting knife, Lillies ooooh la la was painted as an experiment using Chromacryl & A2. I found the student quality paints great for such an experiement. Not having painted a complete work with a painting knife, I was keen to have a go. I was after a bright, cheery, painting. It was painted from a still life set up of a vase of lillies, from which I chose a small area of the flowers only, to capture in vibrant hues. I chose to paint only a small part of the still life as I felt doing the whole of it would have resulted in a mish-mash result. I love the looseness of the painting as well as the texture and the strong contrast in colour. The tonal contrast is not strong but it doesn't need to be because of the vibrancy of the colours.
