Melbourne Craft Fair- July 2010

The Melbourne Craft Fair ,which ran for four days from the 22nd – 25 of July, was fantastic! Four artist who are part of Chroma TAPP (Teacher and Artist Partnering Program) took part. Libby Richardson (textile artist), Anna Martin , Rachel Baker and Lee Clements, conducted demonstrations at the Bauernmalerei Folk & Decoarative Art stall at the fair.

Anna demonstrated background techniques which included stencils and lace work with Atelier Impasto Gel, and Jo Sonja paints and mediums for several hours on Friday. The multi media panel shown below is a good example of what was demonstrated on the stall. Décor Crackle Medium, Crackle Medium, Texture Paste, Gold Leaf, sponging and Wood grain technique with Kleister Medium are all used in this panel. This aroused a high degree of interest with lots of conversation, questions, and interaction with shoppers which happily converted into sales.

Rachel Baker conducted a “Make and Take” workshop where participants made a butterfly key ring using Jo Sonja texture paste, Opal and Gold Dust. The hand painted butterfly on fabric below is another example of Rachel’s work during the fair.

For fun Anna Martin hand painted these vinyl shoes with crackled and iridescent finishes. She wore them to the Craft Fair for a bit of craziness where. they caused a stir but she got lots of compliments as well.

Lee Clements demonsrated on the Saturday showing what you can do with stencils.

The ladies enthusiasm, ideas and abilities carried the day and were a great asset to the BFDA stall. Thank you Anna for all the photos.
