First Name Last Name

These last couple of years have seen a major change in my way of painting partially due to the limited amount of space I have at home, my new medium is “Digital” painting with pixels if you like, now my workstation comprises of a solid office desk, a G5 PowerMac computer, two monitors, a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet and a printer with a facility to print directly onto printable CDs or DVDs.

The software packages I use are; Adobe CS 2.3 which includes Photoshop the application I use to paint with as well as many other interesting things, and Corel Painter IX.5 the main source for painting. Rather than print artwork onto my own printer which is too small for what I do anyway I send my finished artwork on a CD to a professional printer who uses the latest printing technology called “Gouttelette” pronounced “Goo-ta-lay” the next generation up from “Giclee” to print onto canvas and top quality papers, size is also not too much of an issue, a maximum of 40 inches high to any length.

Does all this new technology mean that I have given up on the traditional mediums altogether? not on your life, if anything it has given me more power to express myself. When I am teaching, weekdays or evenings and the occasional painting weekends I still use traditional mediums such as watercolour, acrylics, oils, pastel pencils, pastels, pencil etc, after all, what is art? …it’s creating images using any material or medium you can lay your hands on, isn’t it...?

If you click on the link below you will be taken to my website where you will see photographs and details of a very successful painting weekend on July 25th to July 27th 2008. If you would like to learn more please email me;
