Operation Art Exhibition
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Operation Art is an initiative of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead NSW, The Department of Education and Training NSW and The Art Gallery of New South Wales. It’s a program, which encourages young students to create artworks for children in hospital.
We value being involved because the program plays an important role in the children’s well being and the collection of artworks create a total healing environment for the hospitals patents.
Now in its tenth year, Operation Art at Penrith Regional Gallery saw the display of 602 artworks submitted by government and non government schools from all over NSW.
The opening of the exhibition is very exciting for the students, their families and the teachers because every year a very special selection of works are hung in the NSW Art Gallery, Sydney.
Each year the exhibition if officially opened by Monica Trapaga, Goodwill Ambassador for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
At the end of the touring exhibition the artworks are then sent to the children’s hospital to become part of a permanent art gallery collection.
