I love painting seascapes, landscapes, and realist type designs, flowers, portraits as well as general australiana
I love also Fabric painting - the first thing I ever painted was using Hobbytex paints, and since that time, my love of fabric painting with Jo Sonja paints has continued!
My name is Lyn and I have been painting since February 2000. I live in a small town called Gembrook (about 1000 people) approx 76klm north east of Melbourne, in Victoria. It's very country as where I live is in the middle of a state forest, so I have lots of wild birds and animals come to visit constantly.
I started painting quite by accident as I have always sewn and embroidered since my early years. I wanted something different to do as a hobby, and I didn't really expect it to turn out so life-changing - but then I suppose that's how these things happen!
It took me a while - but in 2006 I started to teach, and also became a Chroma support teacher and joined the Chroma artist partnering programme. In 2006, I also became the Librarian for the Society of Folk & Decorative Artists of Victoria Inc., (SFDAV), and in October, progressed to become the Editor of the society's magazine ‘FOLKLORE'.
In November 2006 I had my 1st design published in 'Australian Decorative Painting' magazine, which was a fabric painting project for youngsters. There are several more designs in the pipeline for publication so please keep an eye open for them.
During the early part of 2007 I taught at my first convention, which was a great thrill - not only as a teaching experience - but to enjoy a whole weekend of painting was just heaven!
I'm looking forward to a new and challenging year in 2008, and meeting some more wonderful people that share this wonderful passion!.
HAPPY PAINTING - Lyn.
